Maple, a charming young adult female Beagle cross, is approximately two years old and originates from Cyprus. Falling on the smaller side of medium, she’s well-suited for various living environments, particularly thriving in a calm home with access to a garden where she can explore and play to her heart’s content.
Expressing a readiness to coexist with children aged 6 and above, Maple demonstrates her potential as a family-friendly companion. While she hasn’t been tested with cats, she expresses a willingness to share her space with dog-savvy feline friends, showcasing her adaptability and sociable nature.
Maple’s affable disposition extends to her interactions with other dogs, making her an ideal candidate for multi-pet households without the need for a resident dog. With her gentle demeanor and adaptable nature, Maple is poised to bring joy and companionship to a loving home environment.
About Maple
Maple was found running scared on the highway in Cyprus and was thankfully rescued before she came to harm. She is a lovely, sweet natured and gentle girl who wouldn’t hurt a fly and at the estimated age of around 2-3 years old, she’s still only a young dog with a long life ahead of her. We would love to make the rest of her years much better than the last couple have been.
Maple is a Beagle mix, weighing only around 14kg. As she’s already an adult, she won’t be getting any bigger so she’s a great size for someone less confident with big dogs. At some point in her life she looks to have had puppies, and based on her breed it’s possible she may have formerly belonged to a hunter who bred her. Sadly the lives of hunting dogs in Cyprus is miserable, so Maple’s one of the lucky ones.
Maple is a little reserved at the moment but it’s simply because she’s adapting to so much change. We have no doubt in our minds that once settled into a forever home her character will emerge fully and we think she’s going to be a lovely little companion.
She is very gentle, sweet and friendly with people, and she has no issues at all with other dogs. She’s not very playful at the moment, but again, we think this will come with time and increased confidence. She’s not a nervous dog but she’s still adjusting to everything going on around her at the moment following her recent rescue.
Maple trots along really nicely on the lead when on her walks and loves to check out what’s happening around her. In residential areas she is very calm, but being a hound it’s likely that in a more rural environment she would be a lot more excited about the smells around her.
She has come into contact with cats before and not reacted to them, but living alongside them might be different so we would advise she would be better with dog-savvy cats, as she is a hound at the end of the day.
Maple could definitely live alongside other dogs and whilst we think this would benefit her confidence, we don’t think it’s compulsory. She will settle in good time and she loves humans, she’s not afraid. Her gentle behaviour makes her suitable for a home with children aged 6+ (we think younger would be overwhelming for her).
Maple would be best suited to a home outside of the city where it’s a bit more quiet and calm. She would love direct access to a secure garden to potter about in, and she would benefit from a moderately active home. She has plenty of love to offer and it will be so rewarding to see her personality shine through once she’s settled in.
Maple is currently based in Cyprus and has a clean bill of health. She is ready to travel once she finds her forever home.
